The Final of the biggest Domestic Cricket Event of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is currently being played between Central Punjab and KhyberPakhtunkhwa. This was just the right time to interview someone from the defending champions side, Central Punjab. The latest episode of featured, Usman Salahuddin, the vice-captain of Central Punjab. Usman did captaincy as well in this tournament and recently he had scored a double hundred in the group stages of the tournament. Usman Salahuddin joined for a special interview, where he was asked regarding the Quaid-e-Azam trophy finale and also regarding his career.

What are Usman Salahuddin’s thoughts on Central Punjab’s incredible comeback?

Central Punjab were struggling during the group stages of the tournament. Till the end of round 6, they were at the bottom of the table and no-one was expecting them to even come close to playing final but then all of a sudden things changed and Central Punjab started their winning run and made it to the finals. Usman credited Hasan Ali for his brilliant leadership and never give up attitude. “Doing captaincy as a pace bowler is never easy, Hasan Ali led brilliantly and gave confidence to every player”, Usman Stated. Not only as a Captain, but Hasan’s record as a player this season is phenomenal too and he is one of the main reasons behind Central Punjab’s brilliant run.

Which KP Player can be threatening during the final?

KhyberPakhtunkhwa have been dominant right through the tournament. They were the table toppers at the end of the group stage and their individual performers were at the top of their respective charts as well. Upon being asked that who could be the most threatening, Usman took the names of Sajid Khan, Kamran Ghulam and Adil Amin. Though he took these names but still he stated that both teams are equally good and the fans will see a crunch final. Kamran Ghulam and Sajid Khan are the top batsmen and bowler of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy respectively.

Does Usman Salahuddin think that this season’s performance will get him a comeback call in the National Team?

Usman Salahuddin himself is currently doing a great job for Central Punjab. What we see is an inexperienced batting lineup of Central Punjab as a lot of big names are either on National Duty or Injured. Usman himself is the senior most batsman in Central Punjab’s side and he has taken the responsibility properly. He is amongst the Top 5 run scorers of the tournament. “I am in great rhythm, that double hundred I scored gave me a lot of confidence. If I get a chance from the selectors, I will give my best for the National Team”, Usman told

Was Representing Pakistan in International Cricket the biggest moment of Usman Salahuddin’s career?

Usman Salahuddin arrived at the International Arena in 2011. But his stay in the International Arena was a short one. He played just 2 ODIS back then and played a test in 2018. Still he remembers the debut making moments and termed it the best of his career. “My father was the most happiest on my debut, it was a dream come true moment for me”, Usman stated. Furthermore upon being asked regarding his favorite player, he said that he learns from different past and present players, but he does not have a favorite player at all.

Feelings on getting dropped after just one Test?

Usman Salahuddin represented Pakistan in just on Test against England and was never considered again. Usman admitted that he has regrets that he could not utilize the opportunity and not score big, but he has no regrets regarding getting dropped. “I am working hard, every day is a new beginning and I’ll comeback. If I had been given more chances after that I would have proved myself, but never mind. I will comeback strongly”, Usman added.

Which Young Star in the ongoing tournament can represent Pakistan in future?

Quaid e Azam Trophy 2020 has seen a large number of great performers. Some of them are vastly experienced domestic campaigners, while there are some youngsters as well. “Sindh’s, Saud Shakeel, Central Punjab’s, Qasim Akram, and Northern’s Mubasir Khan have the potential to represent Pakistan in future. These all are great talents”, Usman answered.
