Mohammad Rizwan Nearing 2 World Records in T20I Cricket:

The Opening Batsman of Pakistan’s T20I side, Mohammad Rizwan is in red hot form in T20Is this year. Once considered a misfit for this format, Rizwan is now averaging 100.85 in T20Is this year with the bat. He has won multiple matches for Pakistan in T20I cricket and has became the backbone of Pakistan’s batting line-up, specially in run chase situations.

Mohammad Rizwan has scored 706 runs at an average of 100.85 and at a strike rate of 140.91. He has scored 7 half centuries and 1 century in 14 T20I matches this year. These 706 runs are still a record for third most no. of runs scored in T20Is in a calendar year.

Meanwhile Mohammad Rizwan now needs 43 more runs to break the record of the Irish, Paul Stirling for Most Runs scored in a single year in T20Is. Paul Stirling scored 748 runs in 2019 at an average of 41. Paul Stirling did that in 20 matches, while Rizwan has played just 14 yet. Pakistan Team have 3 more T20I matches remaining against West Indies, then they have couple of home series against England and New Zealand and then of-course, the World T20 is also round the corner.

Mohammad Rizwan has plenty of matches left this year to break the record of Paul Stirling and get his name in the record books. Moreover if Rizwan scores 2 more half centuries this year in T20Is, he will once again break another record of Paul Stirling, which is for most fifties scored in a calendar year in T20Is. Stirling scored 8 half centuries in 2019, while Rizwan has 7 half centuries in 2021.
