Sarfaraz Axed as Pakistan’s Squad for NZ Series Announced:

Former Pakistan Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been axed from the ODI squad as Pakistan have announced their squad for the ODI Series against New Zealand. Pakistan’s Squad for NZ Series (ODIs) includes some new faces while some of the old ones have been axed. A total of 4 uncapped players have been included in the squad while 2 players will return to the ODI Side.

Amongst the uncapped players, Pakistan have brought in Shahnawaz Dahani, who was the leading wicket taker of PSL 2021. Leg Spinner Zahid Mahmood has also been added to the side. All-rounder Wasim Jr. and Muhammad Haris are two more youngsters who succeeded in impressing the selectors.

Hard Hitting batsman, Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed have been recalled to the side. Both the batsmen showed great potential in PSL as well as Kashmir Premier League (KPL). The addition of these 2 players has made it certain that Pakistan have taken their middle order issues seriously.

Former Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has been axed from the side and the selectors have opted for the young wicket keeper batsman Mohammad Haris. With the experience of just 9 List A games and 3 T20s, Haris earned his way to the national side. In 9 List A games, Mohammad Haris has an average of 41 and a strike rate of 102. His numbers clearly show that he has great potential.

Babar Azam (C), Shadab Khan (VC), Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Mohammad Haris (WK), Abdullah Shafique, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Shahanawaz Dahani, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Qadir and Zahid Mahmood.

The 3 Match ODI series is a part of ODI Super League 2023 and Pakistan have adopted a broader vision by opting for some young stars who can serve longer in this ODI Super League.
