Wasim Khan's Latest Interview

In a latest interview, the CEO of Pakistan Cricket Board, Wasim Khan revealed a lot of interesting things. The PCB CEO recalled the time when he climbed the wall of Edgbaston Stadium to watch Imran Khan and Majid Khan play. “Kids do things like that, and I was no exception. I was a 12-year-old from Birmingham’s inner city, so my buddies and I scaled the fence and entered the stadium to watch the match and support Pakistan“, Wasim Stated.

Wasim also revealed that he watched the 1992 World Cup at a friend’s house to support Pakistan. He was also present at Lord’s in 2009 when Pakistan won their only T20 World Cup and he was also present in the ground during the IndoPak final of Champions Trophy 2017.

Wasim Khan is a British Pakistani and because of being British he has received some criticism at times. ” Mickey Arthur was respected when he served Pakistan Cricket, but for a British Pakistani the attitude is different. I think we should see what skillset a person has and not where he is coming from”, Wasim stated.

The PCB CEO also said that he is working on promoting school cricket. He further said in some locations, such as Karachi, there is a system for school cricket, but in other cities there is no organized structure for school cricket. Wasim Khan also admitted that when the team loses, there is a lot of pressure on PCB as well.

Answering to a question regarding the first class experience of Pakistani Players, he claimed that criticizing some players for being in the team but not having played any first-class cricket is unfair because T20 is a different format than first-class cricket. “Cricket presently differs from what it was 20-30 years ago, when every player was required to play all of the different versions of the game before being allowed to play white ball cricket”, Wasim added.

Wasim Khan also ensured that the PCB will never allow any home series to be played in UAE now. He also made it clear that the Board will never pay any team to tour Pakistan and was confident regarding the upcoming tours of England, New Zealand and Australia to Pakistan.
